Indianapolis Fire Department

Track

Dan Hansman served the Indianapolis Fire Department for 48 years: now that is a career. He has been married to his wife Sharon for 55 years. Does she have a Gold Medal for that?

Dan was awarded Firefighter of the Year and is inducted in the Red Cross Hall of Fame.

Dan began his participation in the WPFGs in 1997 when they were held in Calgary. He has not missed one since Los Angeles will mark his 10th in a row.

Dan competes in Track and Field and is a true sprinter: 100m, 200m, 400m 4×100 relay, 4×400 relay, and the Long Jump. He has won a total of 32 medals and a proud member of the world record holding 4×100 and the 4×400 relay teams.

Dan can be found walking around the track talking to old friends and making new ones. One of the fastest public servants and one of the nicest.
