The Founder of the Games.
In 1955 he joined the San Diego Police Department. He rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Chief. He had an idea, really a version, to promote competitive sports for Law Enforcement. This concept would offer a chance to promote physical fitness and camaraderie to law enforcement. The Police Games was born 1967.
There is a term used by many and it fits Duke “Sweat Equity” he was tireless and focused on creating something that would last beyond his years. In 1985, he led the way in the creation of the World Police and Fire Games. A natural extension of his core belief that great competition brings out the best in law enforcement and fire service. Today these Games have travelled the globe and soon will make their mark in Asia. Duke never stopped selling the concept.
