Over the years, the California Police Athletic Federation’s (CPAF) vision and mission has grown. There are currently two major sports events administered on a day-to-day basis by the CPAF. First, changes in the California Police Olympics lead to the current United States Police and Fire Championships (USPFC), established in 2012 and administered on a day-to-day basis by the CPAF Staff and the USPFC Board of Directors. The USPFC features annual competition among Law Enforcement and Fire Service Officers from all across The United States of America.

Second, the World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) was created and first staged in 1985 in San Jose, California. It is administered on a day-to-day basis by the CPAF Staff and the WPFG Board of Directors. Held biennially, the WPFG is a prestigious event designed to promote the physical fitness of, and camaraderie between, Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers from around the world. The WPFG has been held in various cities in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.

The ongoing success of the California Police Athletic Federation’s Sports Event Boards of Directors and Sports Committees may be attributed to CPAF providing a clear mandate, direction and guidance to Games’ Hosts. Our Hosts, in turn, have created an organization to conduct the Games, pursued obtaining the best sports’ facilities available, and encouraged community involvement. Law Enforcement and Firefighting services throughout the United States and the world are strengthened by the sports Event Committees of the CPAF, as are the communities they serve and protect.

  1. Vision

Our dedication and motivation is expressed in our vision of the Sports Events administered by the CPAF. CPAF encourage physical fitness, competitive sport and fair play among and between the members of the public safety services.

These competitions serve as bridges between public safety personnel and the community as they provide a significant economic impact from the athletes who pay their own expenses, and the community rediscovers the human and heroic side of members of public safety services. Those participating in the Games are seen as role models and acknowledged for their heroic service.

These sports Events provide a welcome connection between public safety personnel from varied backgrounds and cultures and offer the opportunity to develop camaraderie and celebrate the human spirit at its very best.

  1. Mission

Our mission is to bring together thousands of Law Enforcement and Firefighter athletes, and provide them with the ultimate in an Olympic-style athletic experience. The CPAF endeavors to encourage physical fitness among all public safety personnel and bring recognition to their dangerous professions. In doing this, we hope to create lifelong memories for the athletes, their family and friends, as well as the communities involved.

  1. Objectives

    1. To encourage, support and assist the men and women of the USPFC and the WPFG Staff in establishing key objectives to ensure that the CPAF’s Vision and Mission are achieved with excellence, integrity and teamwork. Throughout our work with our Hosts, the CPAF strives to meet our core values of providing a venue for physical fitness and camaraderie between Law Enforcement and Firefighting communities.

    2. Establish goals that will create

      1. A friendly Games, accessible to all;

      2. An excellent Games’ experience for the participants;

      4. A showcase for the competitors, the Host Cities and sponsors;

      5. A legacy for our Hosts, their sponsors and their community, as well as the athletes, their family/friends.

    3. Establish goals regarding the uniqueness to our Sports Events.

      1. To provide a vehicle for Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers to establish the highest levels of physical fitness.

      2. To create a base to generate camaraderie among all participants and members of the community.

      3. To promote our Sports Events to Law Enforcement and Firefighters throughout the United States and the world.
